It was an honour to have Attorney-General Martin Pakula and Ballarat Council Mayor Samantha McIntosh in attendance today for IDAHOBIT and the Pride flag raising outside Ballarat Town Hall.
Ballarat Pride Hub Inc and Ballarat Frolic Festival were also in attendance.

Justice and protection for all. That’s the theme of this year’s IDAHOBIT. What does that mean for you?
We’ve come so far in Australia with law reform but there’s still a fair bit to do to make sure that all parts of our community are equal & have the rights needed to live their authentic life.
Protection. Safety. These are two things that we can always do better on in Australia. Acceptance and visibility, and therefore festivals like Frolic, are a big part of the solution. We hope you feel so too.
Also, let’s remember that we’re really lucky in Australia and let’s all pledge to do something to assist our international LGBTIQA+ community where many of us are still persecuted under the law just for being who we are.

Tomorrow is IDAHOBIT Day – International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia and it’s really important to celebrate the day.
Ballarat Libraries are having some great events we urge you to attend. The first is a flag raising at 10am outside Ballarat Town Hall and then morning tea from 10:30am, and then from 4pm to 7pm in their library meeting room they’re having a celebration with music, arts, food and good company.

We’re super excited to be attending the Central Victoria session of the Equality Roadshow tomorrow with Gender and Sexuality Commissioner Ro Allen, local LGBTI+ organisations, and other key stakeholders in the community.
We’ll be meeting in Daylesford and presenting about Ballarat Frolic Festival. We’ll be talking about the impact we have on creating a more connected and proud community, as well as our plans to grow into a key LGBTI event in Victoria.
We’ll also be brainstorming about what our community needs right across the state, and the achievements of the Andrews Labor Government on LGBTI+ issues.

The Victorian Andrews Labor Government will support the needs of trans and gender diverse people by opening two new dedicated multidisciplinary health clinics – and one of them is in Ballarat!!! 😯🏳️🌈😃
We’re super proud that Ballarat has been chosen. These two clinics for trans and gender diverse people will be focused on boosting access to inclusive and responsive care and will also deliver a state-wide training program for health professionals. How good is that??

We had such a great time at ChillOut Festival! Thanks so much to all the Frolic volunteers who helped make it such a fun experience. From those making costumes, our photographer Lynden, all the volunteers and Frolic Drag Queens who marched with us, and the legends that continued on to the carnival!

Our Frolic Festival volunteers got together last Saturday for a craft day. We’re marching in the ChillOut 2019 Festival parade this Sunday & can’t wait. This mask is a tiny teaser of what you can expect.
